1.What is your cancellation policy?

A 24 hour notice of cancellation is required if you cannot keep your scheduled appointment. You will not be required to pay the fee if you call within this time period.

If you do not cancel within 24 hours, you will be required to pay the full fee for the session. Insurance patients who are “no shows” will be required to adhere to the policies of their carrier which will include co-payments.

2.How Long Does Therapy Last?

At the Kansas City Child Guidance Center (KCCGC) we employed what is called an “evidence-based model” known as PLL- Parenting with Love and Limits. Studies have shown that evidence-based treatment models work in a relatively short time span (2-3 months vs. 6-12 months) and can lead to long-lasting improvements well after treatment ends.

As a result, while traditional counseling can last between 6 to 12 months, our average length of stay is 2 months.

3.What Can We Expect?

Parents often describe the experience as going to a Spa. We get right to the cause of your stress quickly and you leave with hope and clear tools to solve your child’s problem(s). If you like the television show “Super Nanny,” then you see how clear and direct the healing process is. You will love the Kansas City Child Guidance Center. Please review some of the parent testimonials.

We will meet with the entire family including all siblings above the age of five and as needed meet with your teenager individually. Everyone will play a role in the healing process. Talk therapy is OK but we prefer direct concrete tools.
